In RetroPie, the libretro emulator cores are identified with a lr- in front of their name. With a few simple changes to the emulator source code, almost any existing emulator could become a libretro core. RetroArch then handles the input (controls) and output (graphics and audio) while the emulator core handles the emulation of the original system. RetroArch and libretro provide a way to take an existing emulator and load that emulator as a library or "core". RetroArch is the official front end for the libretro API. Also I found (via trial and error) that I couldn't get to the second page of plays (normally just pressing L or R for page 2) to show unless I'm simultaneously pressing L+R triggers! Very weird stuff going on, but its consistent, as I've tried to remap the controller from the main menu numerous times and each time I'm getting the same results.Validating, Rebuilding, and Filtering Arcade ROMs Its playable for the most part, but for whatever reason, the pi thinks turbo (L or R trigger/shoulder) is being held consistently when I'm not even touching the button. It seems as if my system things there is a constant input happening somewhere? For example, I'm trying to play nfl blitz. On the off chance it DOES pop up, I can't freely move around the menu, and only certain options will highlight and let me select them. But most of the time, I'm mashing my hotkey and X and nothing happens. I keep seeing this suggested everywhere, and seems like an easy enough fix, however MY issue is I can't even get the RGUI to pop up.

So I'm having a bunch of issues with my xbox one controller I paired via bluetooth the other day. TL DR - This is the way to do it Core Remap for a layout that works for your most common games, and then do a GameRemap for everything else. The other area where things aren't consistent is for 2 player games for some games, like SF2 you can make the re-map in one of the players and it seems to carry for both players layouts, for other games you may have to manually remap a second players buttons to mirror player 1s. What I then did was look for the SF2 games, manually remap but only save the Game Remap, and then did the same for 3 button games etc. so my use-case is reasonably simple.įor the first 2-button game I changed I did a Core Remap Save and - as with IAMDeadStretch's detailed explanation above - this carried over to all my MAME games. I only have arcade games going into mame2003 nothing too exotic with other emulators etc. One word of caution for anyone that stumbles on this via google or whatever the Core remapping is much more widespread - I'm not sure how widespread, I assume for the entire Emulator? In my example with the Street Fighter 2 cab, I had the inputs mapped correctly for the SF2 game(s) and this was great, but I didn't like the layout for the 2 button / 3 button games. I'm at a total loss what I'm not doing here and would welcome any advice. I've tried numerous maps and inputs based on what I can see in the. #include "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg" I created a cfg file for a specific ROM and have tried to change the button maps, and confirmed that runcommand see's the config file (it does!) but no matter what I put in the config file I can't get the default mapping to change.Īs an example of my file: input_a_btn=5 I expected to create per-ROM config files and have tried to implement more natural mappings for those games that but it doesn't seem to take. The problem I have is that button layout doesn't lend well to 2 or 3 button games. I've configured the default button mapping to be accurate with Street Fighter 2s expected input, so the 2 rows of 3 buttons do light/medium/heavy punch/kicks as expected. I've modified an Arcade1Up Street Fighter 2 Cabinet with RetroPie and everything looks good. Hey guys, have a feeling I'm doing something simple wrong here but struggling to change the control mapping.
